Summer Workshops: Fine Arts Session 1 | July 11-15, 9am -12pm
July 11, 2016 - July 15, 2016
$150Fine Arts Workshop
The Fine Arts Workshop at CHAP includes creative art experiences in several different mediums. Explore painting in acrylic, gouache, and water color. Learn how to create structure with paper, including spirit lamps and paper mache. Learn fundamentals of drawing, surface design, and more. Dive into printmaking techniques such as montotypes, gelli plates, and scratch-foam.
Children will experience a spectrum of projects and mediums in the fun and
whimsical environment that is CHAP. The daily three-hour art sessions are
designed so children have the time to work whole-heartedly on their projects
without experiencing creative fatigue–time for snack and outdoor play is incorporated daily!
The cost of a workshop covers art supplies and hours of fun, while also
supporting CHAP in delivering innovative healing arts programs to critically ill, chronically ill and disabled children and their loved ones.

Flower Drawing with Expressive Background, with Kim Cordray
Kimberly Cordray is an artist working and living in Portland, OR. She has extensive training in fine arts and has been working with children for the past five years, teaching and sharing her passions of drawing and painting. She has been involved with CHAP for the past couple of years, believing it to be an invaluable source of love and healing through art.
Origami Boxes with Maxine Hartswick
Maxine earned a BFA in Photography from Tyler School of Art, followed by a MFA from Florida State University. While in graduate school she continued to study photography, but was also seduced by the excitement of theater, and was inspired to design costumes and props to use in her photographs. Now living in Portland, Maxine feels that in 2009 it was fate and the allure of paint and glitter that drew her to the former CHAP Art Factory. There she met the originator of CHAP,who gave her the opportunity to create art and hopefully a little magic with the amazingly creative and courageous kids at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Maxine has been a CHAP Hospital Teaching Artist since 2009.
