Whether you can give us 2-4 hours one time as part of a group or a few hours a week for months, we’ll find projects that will support our work bringing the healing power of art to children with acute or chronic medical illness.
WE LOVE OUR VOLUNTEERS
Without the support of our amazing and dedicated volunteers, we couldn’t reach as many children and families as we do! Whether you are labeling envelopes, helping with an event, or priming canvases for the hospital, all of our volunteer jobs impact the children and families we serve. You must be at least 11 years old to volunteer at Children’s Healing Art Project (and you’ll need to bring a parent until you turn 13).
It’s a little bit of a process to get started volunteering, but it’s a fun and rewarding experience once you begin. All of our volunteers start out in our studio before moving on to Art Club or Hospital programs. New volunteers might have the opportunity to help hands on with children after they have attended volunteer orientation and have received some experience in our studio, but it is not guaranteed.
Please read the Volunteer Handbook for a better understanding of the full scope of volunteer opportunities at
The Volunteer Application Process:
Please fill out the online application the best describes you. Please note that a background check is required for US citizens over the age of 18 years old. Also note that Minors and non-US citizens are required to provide a letter of reference. You can submit this on the online application. Word or PDF format preferred.
After your application has been processed, you will be invited to a volunteer orientation with our Program Manager. After which, you are ready to schedule your first volunteer shift.

WE LOVE OUR IN-SERVICE GROUPS
In-service groups come to CHAP in a variety of ways. We’ve hosted student groups, corporate teams and scout troops for either a single 2-4 hour session or at a regularly scheduled time.

WE LOVE OUR INTERNS
Children’s Healing Arts Project provides unique opportunities to meet your internship requirements. In the past, interns have overseen the work taking place in our studio, have created and implemented communication plans to spread the word, and have staffed our signature event CHAPlandia!. You’ll have a unique experience learning about the non-profit field from behind the scenes. We’ll make sure you complete your required hours.
