2006

Children’s Healing Art Project is founded by Frank Etxaniz and Charlie Swindells; established as a 501(c)3

2007

  • Launch of Holiday Bizarres, Open Studios, and Art Clubs in the Pearl

  • Start of programs at OHSU: starting in 10-South, developing further into the Pediatric Neurosurgery floor and the Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Oncology floor through the Knight’s Cancer Institute

2008

  • Start of of Art Factories and Workshops

  • Launch of programs at Shriners Children’s Hospital

  • Partnership begins with United Cerebral Palsy

2009

Partnership begins with Jr Diabetes Research Foundation and Washington School for the Blind

 

2010

Partnership begins with Camp Erin and Candlelighters for Children with Cancer

2011

  • First CHAPlandia

  • Introduced Inclusive Summer Art Workshops

2012

Partnership begins with Down Syndrome Network Oregon (DSNO)

2015

–CHAP Art Studio moves to Sellwood

2016

Launch of CHAP in a Box program

2017

Partnership begins with Survivor’s Tribe

 

2018

–Partnership begins with KMS Brain Injury Rehab

2019

–Expand in-hospital programs to Eugene and Salem for the first time, thanks to a grant from MillsDavis Foundation

–Begin art programs at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center’s Pediatric Specialty Care waiting room

–Partnership begins with Northwest Kidney Kids
