Jeannie is a native Portlander who earned her BA in sociology from the University of Washington. While planning a career in social work, she got sidetracked by an offer to work in the field of human resources and accounting. That career lasted for 35 years! During that time she continued to support and advocate for children by volunteering in the community on their behalf. She has held board positions from her children’s preschool to the PTA. She has been a room mother and scout leader, and has served on numerous other school, church, and community boards and committees that promote social justice and fight poverty.

Her involvement as a mentor with Family of Friends Mentoring Program is what led her to CHAP in 2014. She is a CHAP studio volunteer and a CHAP Doernbecher Children’s Hospital volunteer. She has been truly inspired to witness the courage and strength of the children and families that she has shared art with. She feels honored to volunteer at CHAP and to assist in promoting its inspirational message of the healing power of art.
